XXXX Edna began to feel like one who awakens from a vast, horrifying, impossible yet truthful dream, to feel her lungs aching for air, gasping and struggling.The overwhelming exhaustion overtaking her, hearing the cries of people as they ran to grab her helpless body and drag it away from the temptation of the beckoning waves.Darkness, that’s all Edna was greeted with, that’s all that she could feel, the deep burning desire to accept the approaching light, yet she could not. The memories of her children flooded her vision as she awoke, feeling soft comforting warmth wrapped tightly around her body.She slept but a few hours. They were troubled and intruding hours, disturbed with dreams that were full of love and longing for not only the children that were hers but for the unattainable love that she craved. The air was invigorating and steadied her senses as she took deep refreshing breaths, no longer feeling her lungs ache or her body give up.Edna arose, cramped from her attempted escape, clutching feebly as she stumbled to the door eager to leave.Edna expected most people at this early hour to be in bed asleep, yet as she stumbled to the kitchen, she was met with a room full of anxious faces. She felt as if she had committed a crime as all the disapproving eyes landed on her.
